Fire prevention is a topic that is hits close to home. I was a volunteer firefighter for over 3 year in a couple different departments and I saw my fair share of fires. Knowing what to do in these types of situations is key to successfully keeping everyone safe and putting out the fire. My goal this month is to help you find ways to integrate fire safety into your workplace to keep it safer. Setting up your Fire Prevention Program can be a daunting task- there's a lot to consider! If you click the link here, I'll share with you my Fire Prevention Program Setup Checklist. Some items for you to consider is getting all your fire safety equipment checked. This could include: - fire extinguishers - sprinkler system - fire alarm panel Next, look at setting up some training for your staff. This could look like a fire drill, having a pre-shift huddle to discuss the emergency response plan or discussing the muster point for your workplace. Another item to look at is your program or documentation. This documentation can take some time to put together and it will require thought and input by several people in your organization to make sure everything is covered. It may seem like this is a waste of time, but it really does guide how the company will deal with these types of emergencies. |
